baby health

Please roll over the numbers below for more information.
A normal temperature is between 36°C (97°F) and 37°C (99°F). A fever is
38°C or above. If your baby has a fever, try to bring his temperature down.

•
Remove your baby’s sheets and blankets and strip him down
to his nappy.
•
If your baby is over two months old, you can give him liquid
infant paracetamol. Using a dispenser can make this easier.
Some forms of ibuprofen (eg Nurofen for children) can be given
to babies above three months, but always check the label.
•
Keep your baby hydrated: offer him his normal feeds
(breast/formula milk) or cooled, boiled water often.
•
If he is under six months, or if you are at all worried about your
baby’s breathing or behaviour, seek medical advice immediately.
A forehead strip gives an
approximate reading, but a digital
thermometer is easy to use and
accurate. Check out our full range
of thermometers online (click here) and in
our catalogue.
